讲座人介绍:
Yong Fang received his BEng, MEng, and PhD degrees from the School of Telecommunications Engineering, Xidian University, Xi’an, China, in 2000, 2003, and 2005, respectively. Then he was a lecturer/postdoc-fellow for one year in the School of Electronics & Information Engineering, Northwestern Polytechnic University (NWPU), Xi’an, China. From 2007 to 2008, he joined the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE), Hanyang University (HYU), Seoul, Korea, as a research professor. He is currently a full professor with the College of Information Engineering (CIE), Northwest A&F University (NWAFU), Yangling, Shaanxi, China. From Mar. 2015 to Sep. 2015, he visited University of Waterloo, Canada as a Senior Visiting Fellow. His research interests include information theory, coding technique and theory, pattern recognition, compressive sensing, bioinformatics, image/video coding, processing, and transmission, etc. He has published more than 50 papers, including more than 10 IEEE journal papers. He is now the Area Editor for the Elsevier International Journal of Electronics and Communications. He has long experiences in hardware development,
e.
g. FPGA-based (Xilinx Virtex series) video codec design, DSP-based (TI C64 series) video surveillance system, etc.
讲座内容:
Distributed arithmetic coding (DAC) is a practical implementation of Slepian-Wolf coding (SWC)that performs better than LDPC codes for short-to-medium block lengths. A very interesting application of the SWC is biometric authenticationasitis able torealize data encryption and data compression simultaneously. In contrast to the typical scheme that adopts the breadth-first DAC decoder, this talk introduces a simplified and more effective scheme based on the depth-first DAC decoder. We evaluate its verification performance by making comparisons with the traditional scheme based on the breadth-first DAC decoder.
